What is the GKCLCA?
The GKCLCA (Greater Kansas City Lactation Consultant Association) is an affiliate chapter of the United States Lactation Consultant Association (USLCA). The GKCLCA provides networking opportunities with others who are interested in the field of lactation.
What is an IBCLC?
An International Board Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC) is a health care professional who specializes in the clinical management of breastfeeding. The scope of practice of IBCLCs focuses on providing education and management to promote and support breastfeeding mothers and families. IBCLCs are certified by the International Board of Lactation Consultant Examiners (IBLCE). IBCLCs work in a wide variety of health care settings, including hospitals, pediatric offices, public health clinics, and private practice.

Who can join:
GKCLCA membership is open to all who support and promote breastfeeding. You do not need to be a member of USLCA to join this local chapter. You do not need to be an IBCLC to join.*
Annual membership dues are $30.
GKCLCA membership runs on a calendar year (January 1 to December 31).

- enhance the reputation, image, and credibility of International Board Certified Lactation Consultants (IBCLCs), according to their Scope of Practice and Code of Conduct.
The Greater Kansas City Lactation Consultant Association (GKCLCA) member benefits include:*
- opportunities for networking, collaborating, and mutual support amongst members through local USLCA chapter meetings
- eligible for USLCA group membership discount
- opportunities for involvement and voting in group matters and annual elections
- IBCLCs in private practice can be listed on the resource page of our website
